Yesterday, the folks at Wynn Resorts proudly trumpeted the news that Wynn & Encore has picked up another batch of Forbes Travel Guide (formerly Mobil Travel Guide) stars for Wynn Tower Suites, Encore Tower Suites, The Spa At Wynn, The Spa at Encore, Alex, Wynn Macau and The Spa at Wynn Macau.

The only other hotel in Las Vegas to win the Forbes Five Star award in Nevada is Skylofts at MGM Grand.

Four starred hotels in Las Vegas include:

Bellagio, Encore, Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, M Resort, Palazzo, The Signature at MGM Grand, Venetian and Wynn Las Vegas.

Moving on to dining, in addition to Alex, MGM Grand's Joel Robuchon was given a Five Star rating. Four star rated restaurants include Aureole, Bradley Ogden, Le Cirque, Michael Mina, miX, Picasso, Restaurant Guy Savoy and Twist by Pierre Gagnaire.

For spas, only Mandarin Oriental joined Wynn & Encore with five star spas. Four star spas include Canyon Ranch at Venetian/Palazzo, Spa Bellagio, Spa Mio at M Resort, The Spa at Four Seasons, The Spa at Trump.

Meanwhile, Bellagio announced today that they have won the AAA Five Diamond awards.

We all know that the only awards worth winning are Trippies awards, the nominations of which are currently being tallied! Woowoo!

Comments & Discussion:

And once again, Bellagio reminds everybody that AAA Five Diamond = Mobil/Forbes Four Star.

After seeing an internal Bellagio report that detailed how these are awarded, I have little faith in the AAA award, at least in as much as that once you have it, it's almost impossible to lose it - they give you a *lot* of latitude to screw up and let you fix stuff if it looks like you might lose a diamond.

Interesting, Hunter...
@mctrees02: yeah, their press release touts it as if it were the "most coveted" distinction and even boasts they are the "only resort" to house two 5-star eateries.

No knock against Bellagio intended,but... the hyperbole threw me like a bucking bronco.

Wasn't this whole rating system exposed in "Ocean's 16"?

The rating system is used just to pimp interest in the hotels and convince people to pick this hotel as opposed to another one. I would rather stay somewhere and then tell people whether it was worth staying at instead of looking thru a travel guide.

Well, now I know what I must add to my "To Eat List"! (I've done Joel Robuchon, Aureole, Bradley Ogden, and Mix so far.) Let me just say one of these places is where I will take my dad for his b-day next week... And hopefully in March, someone will be taking me to one of these restaurants for my birthday!
