Encore Mothballs Its Balls On 'Ween

Earlier today, Encore's Surrender Night Club announced what their costume will be on Halloween - a dickless rock band. No, not Bush. Not the Goo Goo Dolls, either. Worse. No, not Hootie and the Blowfish. Or the Gin Blossoms.

Yes folks... its Nickleback.

Perhaps the only saving grace here is that the Nicklebackwads won't actually be performing at Surrender (the idea of a real concert in the EBC by non-dj's is infinitely enthralling) they're going to be deciding which iteration of the slutty fill-in-the-blank wins the $15,000 ($14,999.95 after subtracting the "Nickleback resort fee") Halloween costume contest (pickmepickmepickmepickme).

Come back Autograph all is forgiven.

Oh man. I am so there... dressed as a pickle:

I would relish the opportunity to escort you to the event.

Ya maybe instead of a band that plays actual instruments Wynncore should stick to ringtone bands that perform with Paris Hilton. I'm not a Nickleback fan but I don't understand the hatred that exists for them. Maybe society is to used to talentless people who can't play an instrument or sing without the assist of autotune. Either way I would love to see more live music and less DJs/crappy autotune ringtone bands in Vegas. And the first Nicklelback album didn't actually suck.

Rock & Roll is dead. Kills me to say it. At least classic rock/hard rock/melodic rock is dead. Can anyone name an album that's come out in the last 20 years that could stand in the company of Led Zep II, Van Halen I, Back in Black, Appetite for Destruction or Metallica's Black Album?

Them Crooked Vultures and Queens of the Stone Age come to mind.

@weatherman bingo!

Yeah Nickelback is totally in that whole "Country rock" genre that rock is slowly becoming. Along with Theory of a Deadman, Saving Abel, and half the other crap that gets played on the radio now.
Don't get me started on how much music sucks now.

It's bordering on the 20 year mark, but I'd put Nevermind by Nirvana and Ten by Pearl Jam up there, maybe even Vs by Pearl Jam. Although I'm in agreement the industry has been extremely negligent for that genre. I don't believe it doesn't exist, I just think the record companies have failed to develop or sign any talent. It doesn't help that radio stations have consolidated and tend to choose a 'safe' or 'corporate hip' format, which usually means cookie cutter.

I could break out a list of 50,000 albums that came out in the last 3 years that are better than Metallica's Black Album.
For real??
I do not understand why people rely on the radio and mainstream formats to find good music. It just befuddles me.
Rock (ESPECIALLY Metal) is not dead. Radio is.

While I'll grant you that the Black Album is the weakest album on my proferred list, my point wasn't that there hasn't been any good rock music in the last 20 years. Rather, it was that there haven't been any enduring, iconic hard rock albums in the last 20 years. I stand by that statement.

Still, shoot me that list of 50,000 albums and I'll give it a look-see.

Thank you Chuck. FWIW, I have a bit of a soft spot for Theory of a Dead Man, though I can't exactly explain why. I also hear that Spoon is pretty awesome, though I don't know very much of their stuff.
