Coming Soon: MLife iPhone App

Inside of a recent presentation to prospective investors, MGM Resorts International has dedicated a full powerpoint slide to the mobile apps they've built for many of their hotel offerings (Aria, Bellagio, Mirage, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, New York New York, Luxor and Beau Rivage now have iPhone apps) plus apps dedicated to their Entertainment offerings (elv) and the CityCenter art collection.

Mentioned as a footnote to the slide are forthcoming apps from Excalibur (its out), Monte Carlo, Circus Circus and.... MLife which will join Boyd Gaming's BConnected as the only mobile apps dedicated to tracking, redeeming and managing your players club earnings.

So whats gonna be inside? We have no idea, but if it were up to us we'd love to see:

1. Sortable point tracking database, display by properties, game/machine types or on a time line with shout out balloons that give up the details.

2. One tap comp redeem. Based on X points you can snag any of these comps: a) dinner at, b) show tickets c) discount this d) free room e) this offer etc.

3. Contact information for your host/concierge, should you qualify.

4. Push notifications as to special promos based on a GPS ping.

5. Slot finder / table game finder

6. Slot concierge - auto populated based on historical play and GPS location. Can also make game suggestions and send codes for free play incentives to try a new machine.

7. Drink service app. Type in the number of a slot machine (or scan a barcode) and bingo... the waitress comes.

If they're going to go through the trouble to make these things, at least they can make them useful. Simply telling me that I have 5000001 points and prompting me to sign up for email marketing isn't an app, its an insult.

What would you want in a mobile players card app?

Comments & Discussion:

Clearly quite a few awesome things they could do. I bet they do practically none of the awesome things and instead just have the company doing all their apps, Macrovision, do another one, this time with Mlife crap instead of resort specific.

One note: according to the App Store guidelines, sending out push notifications that are simply advertisements is forbidden. The other thing is that the current implementation of push notifications isn't location based.

At first I thought that said a MILF phone app, which is correctly referred to as "my contact list".
