Expedia Glitch Pegs Wynn Parlor Suite At $141 Per Night

An internet booking engine glitch sent prices of Wynn Las Vegas' Parlor Suite to the low low price of $141/night yesterday afternoon.

Prices were replicated throughout the Expedia booking network, which includes Trip Advisor, Hotels.com, Kayak.com and VT's very own booking engine.

Not only were those prices on par with what the Flamingo might get when the rodeo is in town, they were available for LABOR DAY weekend. Scooooore!

The big question: if you booked that room at this rate, would Expedia honor those rates or does "malfunction voids all plays and pays" apply in this situation as well. Imagine how exponential the trouble would be if those rates showed up on Orbitz, with their "Price Assurance" guarantee! Nearly everyone who booked suites for that weekend would be refunded the difference - a coupla thousand smackers!

Yay technology!

Big thanks to VT reader Anonymous or Something for tipping us off and having the smarts to snag a screenshot before it got fixed.

Comments & Discussion:

They'll probably use something from their Terms & Conditions page to invalidate those bookings and credit any monies for a future booking.

Similar thing happened with the Ritz-Carlton Chicago via Travelocity. Simply put, the rate was NOT honored. See the story here:

Expedia's still showing $142 for a 1/2/11 thru 1/5/11 stay in a Wynn Parlor Suite.

"Rates guaranteed upon payment unless we fuck up or change our mind, in which case we'll let you know when we damn well feel like telling you and you'll have to swallow it because we know you never read this fine print disclaimer spelling out our end of the bargain. Thank you for booking with Expedia!"
