Coming Soon: Cirque du Soleil's Viva Elvis - The Album
Cirque Du Soleil has announced that the soundtrack album to Viva ELVIS, the show currently starring at ARIA, will be released in November 2010. Here's teaser:
Sounds pretty good... but with one major oddity. Maybe only a musician will notice this, but the last chord doesn't resolve the way 'Also Sprach Zarathusra' by Richard Strauss (also known as the theme to '2001: A Space Odyssey') is supposed to, making the ending very... unsure. Does this mean that Elvis - as has been rumored for 30 years - is ALIVE?.
AAAAAAAAAH!

Comments & Discussion:
Right on about the last chord. Weird.
I have been an Elvis fan for a very very long time. I have been to Graceland roughly 8 times. And even though I was 2 when he died, I am very used to the disappointments and embarrassments that come with being an Elvis fan. I see this show and soundtrack as no different. I have not seen the show, so I know that my opinion at this point means nothing. The fact is that I own over 200 of E's cds and watch his movies by choice BUT would rather watch every other CDS show 10 times each before seeing this one.
Does anyone here have a review?
I saw it Christmas day and really enjoyed the music and the show. The show is basically Elvis' life story as narrated by Colonel Tom Parker. It may not be the flashiest CDS show but it is far from being as bad as believe. If you are an Elvis fan I think you will enjoy it!
I saw it in May. While it didn't make me as overtly angry at wasting an hour and a half as "Criss Angel Believe" did, I still felt that the show was dull, the Colonel Tom Parker character was over the top Branson corny, and I should have had more to drink before attending so I could take more bathroom breaks. The $20 blended Elvis drink was pretty good, though; you will want two. Buy one at a time so you can get up and take a break from the show when you go for your second.
