Thursday marked the final day for players to enter the Main Event - $10,000 No Limit Texas Hold 'Em Championship Event - at the 2010 World Series of Poker which has been in progress for a month or so at Rio.

This year, 7,319 players anted up $10,000 entry fee, making it the second largest live poker tournament ever (the 2006 Main Event featured 8,773 players.)

The total prize pool is a whopping $68,798,600 ($5m is raked by Harrah's off the top.) To make the money, you must be one of the last 787 players to be eliminated.

The winner of the 2010 WSOP Main Event will take home $8,944,138 plus a diamond crusted gold bracelet plus a years supply of Jack Link's Teriyaki Beef Jerky and an autographed nude photobook of Harrah's CEO Gary Loveman.

Just an FYI, Carl Icahn bought the shuttered Fontainebleau for just about 2x this years WSOP prize pool.

Comments & Discussion:

nice take for harrah's - 14% of the pool.

all they need to do is have a WSOP tourney every 3 weeks and they can start paying off all their debt.

It's a 6% rake. Starting pool = 73,190,000, -6% = 68,798,600.
