Cosmopolitan To One Up Aria Room Technology
Up till now, the powers that be who are running The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas have been relatively tight-lipped about their hotel offerings. Yesterday, at Green Valley Ranch's Gaming Technology Summit Cosmopolitan CIO (Chief Information Officer) Marshall Andrew leaked a bunch of information, which were captured by the Las Vegas Sun's Amanda Finnegan.
Perhaps one of the most interesting of Mr. Andrew's admissions was that the Cosmo room design team (headed up by former Wynn Design and Development project manager Mary Lammers) stayed in ARIA's rooms while researching in-room technology. Their verdict?
We saw things that we liked, but we saw things that we could improve upon, and that's what we're working on right now.
Rooms will feature one remote to control all aspects of the room - temperature, lighting, tv, music etc. - but with even more features available. In room dining? Internet access? Reservations? Spa? Casino offers? Show tickets? Cabana rentals?A vibrator?
Mr. Andrew also let on that the Cosmopolitan will be launching a fully detailed website in June... let the countdown begin!

Just need to know when I plan on getting schnockered with Mr. Monster, Hunter, and crew. Yay casino openings!
Can't wait!
They need to be careful they don't just waste their money on technology that is never used or (even worse) confuses guests. I've called technical support at Aria a couple times for help with the Control4 system.
The article indicates DB has a $4B budget for Cosmo. If true, Cosmo could end up being the most expensive gaming property in the world on a per room basis. Isn't that much more than Aria, MO, Encore, or Marina Bay Sands (at least on a per room basis)?
Also noted is that MGM plans to pick-up the management of 42 overseas hotels in the next couple years.
$4B / 3000 = $1.3MM
"MGM Mirage is acquiring the management of hotel developments in Vietnam, India and Egypt through its subsidiary, MGM Mirage Hospitality. Murphy said the plan calls for MGM Mirage Hospitality to acquire the management of 42 hotels around the world in the next 10 years."
