Daniel Boulud Brasserie : Last Service July 5th?
Seemingly miffed about Daniel Boulud opening a restaurant in Singapore's new Marina Bay Sands (owned by Wynn's arch-nemesis Sheldon Adelson, CEO of Las Vegas Sands Corp., owners of the Venetian & Palazzo) Wynn Las Vegas and multi-Michelin starred chef Daniel Boulud decided to part ways when DBB's contract expired in April 2010. As we had uncovered, DBB was taking reservations until May 31st.
Daniel Boulud Brasserie's closing date appears to have been extended yet again, with July 4th holiday being the last weekend of service. The Wynn Las Vegas dining reservation system lists DBB's final date of availability as July 5th, 2010.
Is DBB really going to close or are Daniel Boulud and Steve Wynn simply playing an ego busting game of poulet froussard.

Hope it is only a battle of the egos. Boulud is a great room at Wynn. Singapore is no competition to Macau, so don't see the connection. Boulud is already in Palm Beach and is opening in Miami this fall after several delays. Can't wait.
And foodies all over Vegas continue to weep. Daniel Boulud has been one of the best brasseries in town. Where else can I go for a great fruit & cheese plate? And lovely Provencal flatbread? And a fabulous wine & beer list (yes, they've carried some wonderful Belgian beers!)? I'll miss DB greatly... But I doubt he'll be gone for long. Since he's already "crossing over to the dark side", we'll probably see him reemerge somewhere at Venelazzo. After all, Adelson now has A LOT of empty restaurant space to fill (with Charlie Trotter & David Burke gone, and Joachim Splichal possibly set to leave next).
What Wynn will put on that place? Another night club with a bunch of Vegas Camp Folks getting wasted and throwing up on the lake of dreams???

Actually, no. Last I heard, Wynn wants a seafood place there. That's the "inside scoop" I got earlier this year, but I'll keep my eyes and ears open for new 411 on what will be replacing it.
Steve is not too keen on franchising chefs. I agree that Venelazzo is perfect for DB. Definitely another restaurant would replace it (no nightclub), but not sure seafood would be my first guess. Whatever the replacement, it needs to be open for lunch (Wynncore is too limited for lunch right now).
