Latest Living Room Necessity: Slot Machines!

It's getting more common these days to go to homes and hear the chiming sounds of a slot machine, a discard most likely from a Las Vegas casino.

Fans are buying them for fun, to keep themselves out of casinos, to improve their game or to add them to the arcade games, pinball machines, poker tables and other toys in their game rooms.

"We have got some customers with some pretty unusual rooms that used to be dining rooms," said Norma Alvarez, who owns the Slot Machine Store in Tucson and opened another store in Chandler last year. She plans to open four more in the Phoenix area.

Bob Entis Jr., who owns One Arm Gambler in Peoria, said, "We have seen whole family rooms dedicated to games, and not just slots. We have seen formal living rooms where they have thrown out the fancy carpets and furniture and filled them with games."

Elizabeth Mack of south Phoenix has six slot machines and a jukebox in a room that was especially designed for them.
