A Family That Plays Together Stays Together
My my my my my my my my pokah face.
To the left, Theresa Sokatis. To the right, her sister Rose Bakaysa.
After winning $165,000 at Foxwoods in 1995, these 70 somethings entered into a notarized contractual agreement wherein they agreed to split all of their gambling winnings. And gamble they did... slot machines, bridge matches, blackjack tables, home poker, Aerosmith scratchers and lottery tickets.
Almost ten years later, a squabble about a $250 loan between the sisters ended agreement to pool their winnings and the two stopped talking to each other. Until Theresa heard that Rose had won a $500,000 Powerball jackpot.
Of course, lawyers got involved... sending the case all the way to the Connecticut State Supreme Court on appeals which entered its ruling on the matter earlier today.
