Turn On Your Heart Light, Neil Diamond At Caesars?

Fresh of his South Park saving duet performance with Mecha Streisand, Mayor Norm! Clarke took time away from tracking the comings and goings of celebutards to drop this this Helsinki Bomb:

Rumblings continue that Neil Diamond has a deal with Caesars Palace. He was in town late last month and attended Lionel Richie's concert at the Colosseum and Garth Brooks' show at Wynn Las Vegas.

I was literally dragged to a Neil Diamond concert at Madison Square Garden in late 1991. I left the show "a believer." Yeah, he's a little greasy, slick and corny... but the fact remains that Neil Diamond is an amazing performer and a master songwriter.

Given the right circumstances - Neil having the 'Garth at Wynn-style' freedom to switch up set lists and have fun with 50+ years worth of music he's created - this could be the residency many of us have been waiting for at Caesars Palace.

Comments & Discussion:

Neil would be great for shorter stint residencies like Elton John (2 months at a time). Not sure he can physically handle the full-time residencies like Bette and Celine.

In 1972 I saw Neil in concert in Denver. He was a big star at the time and gave his all, 2 hours of singing everything he had, to the crowd. I tip my hat to him for his effort at pleasing the crowd. On the other hand I saw Cher about the same time. I've been carrying a grudge ever since. David Brenner, the comedian, opens and is finally booed off the stage after 45 minutes of monolog. Cher (with Sonny) finally shows up and sings 5 songs and leaves. The audience, sitting in the beautiful open air Red Rocks Ampitheater, was stunned at this back handed slap at the ticketholders. Bottom line is Neil would be great to have in LV. Cher can kiss my azz.

Straight from the " guilty pleasures " playlist on my ipod....I'll make an extra trip to Vegas to see Neil and embarrass WrongWay Stacey by singing Sweet Caroline as I stumble out of the Colosseum!

I would consider seeing Neil. He isnt exactly the first choice I would make to fill the Colosseum but it could be an interesting show used to fill the gaps in the Celine/Cher rotation.
