Golden Nugget Adds an Element of Everyone into Their New Suites
While Golden Nugget's Rush Tower has been getting all the attention, downtown's top spot has quietly given much-needed love to their parlor suites - an eclectic hodgepodge of been there, done that suite design that's nevertheless a refreshing change.

We begin with their Gold Tower Suite. It's Bellagio pre MGM Mirage meets New York [New York] art deco. Furnishings with molded armrests and legs as well as a rounded headboard on the bed already look dated and yet strangely combine well with drapes and wall coverings.

Replace the Bellagioesque elements in the last example with a little Station Casino flare and you've got the Classic Suite. Wall coverings and some of the artwork remain the same but they're placed against bolder fabrics, patterns, and colors. Footrests resemble onyx - a stone used sparingly at Wynn Las Vegas and later killed at Red Rock.

Palms circa Trishelle-stank called and they want their missing suite back. That's the best way to describe the Vegas Baby offering. A little funky, a little retro, and a lot of cooties with this one.

Finally, we have the Scarlet Suite. The whereabouts of Palms' missing suite reveals that he is now fathering a child after an affair with a Flamingo "Go" room. That child is the Scarlet Suite. She's kitsch, she's bold, and she looks like a bordello made of bubble gum.
It's neither Lenahan, nor Chi, nor Pushelberg, but it's a little extra vitality for a property that's got all kinds of awesome going for it right now.

Comments & Discussion:
I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.
The Scarlet Suite is a bit over the top, especially for Downtown. The others look fine to me.
At the risk of having my tastes ridiculed, I love the Scarlet Suite. It reminds me of something from "Diamonds Are Forever". The Panorama Suites at P-Ho evoke the same feel. With all the "retro ultra modern" designs going through town, I wish someplace would offer a "gaudy trash" look in their standard rooms. Bally's... are you listening?
