The Venetian Macao Stole My Photo

If I'm lucky, I'll manage to take one really great photograph each year. The best photo I took in 2007 was outside of the Venetian Macao, on the final day of my 12 day sojourn to uncover the mystery that is Asia's Las Vegas.

A real beaut:

I remember that day like it was yesterday... through the course of magic hour the sky went from typical Macau haze to an unreal pinkish purple. My face kinda went through similar hue adjustment as I really really really really had to pee after walking the circumference of the bathroom free Cotai Strip for five hours.

This photo originally appeared in my mini review of Venetian Macao on MacauTripping, posted in late September 2007.

Venetian Macao

The Venetian Macao likes my photo so much, they've been using as the background of their Twitter account for at least a year now. I've pasted in a screen cap of the source code at the bottom... they didn't even change the file name!

So the question is, should I play nice guy and let this go or try and squeeze some cashish out of whomever it is who is squeezable for cash over there?

Side bet: over/under on how many days it takes for the background to change?

Comments & Discussion:

Squeeze an airfare out of them, promise an updated review, and screw them with a stay at Encore Macau.

i like the way you operate Mike.

Very cool pic. That's pretty damn funny.

over under should be 9.5 days

I'll take the over on 9.5 days.
And agree, try squeeze'em for something!

I think you should sell the photo to Stanley Ho and/or his heirs. If he doesn't bite, maybe you could pawn it off to His Steveness. It seems like he'd enjoy having something that Sheldon already thinks he has.

Ask the Wynncore lawyer who wrote you that letter to write one to LV Sands on your behalf. As much as Steve Wynn loves Sheldon Adelson, the Wynn lawyer may do it just for kicks.

Get some money or a free trip over there. It's such a rookie move to not even changed the file name. Total fail!

Agreed. Fail.

Besides Chuck, it's a matter of principal as well as IP rights. Didn't Hunter have to come to an understanding w/ another Vegasy site a few yrs ago?

Would parchedearth's suggestion work? Buy a couple banana or a few grapes on your way in? Hmm, hadn't though of that.
