VegasEats: Breakfast at MOzen
Bouchon, Tableau, Veranda. For years now, these all-day diners have reigned supreme creating a trifecta of breakfasty goodness where a little atmosphere, creative presentation, and superb ingredients justify triple IHOP pricing.
But now there's a new joint on the strip claiming they can hash their browns and beat their eggs better than the luxury veterans of before. That newcomer would be MOzen Bistro at Mandarin Oriental.
The relatively small restaurant - featuring floor-to-ceiling views of CityCenter from the 3rd floor - never had more than four tables at once the two mornings I dined there. This made for phenomenal service in a quiet atmosphere - a godsend one hung over morning where even the slightest of noise entering my sonic senses seemed to distort visual experiences.
It should go without saying that dishes are fresh, creative, and delicious. I especially enjoyed my Eggs Ranchero. It was bursting with various flavors and textures, a compliment which one generally reserves for dinner-type dishes.
As you can see for yourself on the menu, entrees are modestly priced for the level of restaurant. Where you'll get hit hard are in little extras. Coffee for three? $12. A single glass of orange juice? $8. Both were damn good.
Breakfast each morning ran near $90 for three including taxes and tip. If you're a breakfast fan and love any one of the top spots mentioned above, I have no doubt you'll equally love MOzen.
