Let The Sahara Deathwatch Begin

Hot off the press... in addition to closing its poorly rated buffet, Sahara has mothballed two of its three hotel towers due to "lack of demand." A week ago, Binions closed its hotel tower for the very same reason.

It doesn't take long for reverberations caused by more rooms coming online at the top of the food chain - Vdara, Mandarin Oriental, ARIA and the Rush Tower at the Golden Nugget - to decimate the bottom feeders... in this case Binions and Sahara.

More on the hotel closing here: Review Journal.

FWIW, I just walked through ARIA and the place is packed with play daters gambling with plastic poker chips and buying food and drinks with ARIA funny money. I wonder if Kirk Kerkorian's head is on the hundred dollar bill.

Comments & Discussion:

this sahara things pisses me off... ive ben plannin in stayin in the beatles suite for my bachelor party... for more than a yr. so 2 weeks ago today i called for the price, got the price. called the day afterto book it wasnt avail, was told to call the business office to book. called them like 6 times and got nothin. this all makes sence...

LVA is reporting that just as Aria is opening, the Mirage Hotel will be closing off 14 floors of rooms, due to over supply.

I believe the City Center effect is on.

This is on top of Venezia being closed 5 nights a week.

I am amazed that the Sahara is still open every time i go to Vegas. The City Center opening may have been the match to a long fuse
