Boozin' It Up At ARIA (With Logos!)

ARIA has updated their website's listing of places to booze it up to include descriptions and a sneak peak at what their signage will look like.

ARIA bar logos

bar moderno - this looks like its a font, but I can't remember which one it is. The R also screams Mirage logo too.

View Bar - a variation on helvetica neue ultralight, slightly squashed and tweaked. i'll bet that the "w" is very important for some reason.

The Deuce Lounge - The Deuce Lounge is a bar between the high limit slots area and the poker room. Shockingly enough it already has 478 fans on Facebook and hasn't even opened yet. We still think this name is doody.

City Bar - is the main casino floor bar. That "Y" looks like it was stolen from Star Trek.

Liquid - is the pool lounge dayclub thingy. That is a font not a logo.

Pool Bar - with a name like this, probably doesn't need a name or a logo.

Haze - is the Light Group nightclub at ARIA which is located by the Harmon Circle entrance. If you squint at it long enough, it starts to look like a giant bloodshot eyeball, which was probably their intention.

Gold Lounge - the Gold Lounge is bar/club thingy located right next to the Viva Elvis theatre on the promenade level. What you can't see is the micetype which reads: Created By Cirque Du Soleil, In Partnership with Elves Presley Enterprises and CRX Inc. Nothing says "lets get smashed and have a good time" more than contractually obligated signage annotations. Regardless, I really like this logo, mostly because I have a fetish for women with long tails and it makes me think about the Solid Gold Dancers.

Oh and the logo for Light Groups other restaurant joint - Union - is posted on their Facebook page as well. Which inexplicably has 309 fans in advance of opening. Who are these people? Employees? Facebook group shills?

The font for the Gold Lounge is somewhat familiar looking. It bears a resemblance to the font used for Gold Diggers over at the Golden Nugget.

As a barfly, I am truly underwhelmed and disappointed in these bars. I hope I am wrong, but none of them would seem to provide a uniquely interesting and distinct drinking experience. The true test is to ask yourself if you were staying at another property would you make a specific trip to visit one of these bars. They all have pretty conventional names which shows a real lack of imagination. I wonder if they collectively decided upon all the names and logos to make sure they had one of everything.

MGM's designs are starting to remind me of the US automakers who try to appeal to the masses instead of doing any one thing really well and just don't understand why consumers prefer foreign designs.

Liquid is a very similar name to Liquidity at Luxor.

Just got an email for Aria's Winter Special. Stay 2 nights and get the third free with rates starting at $159. This brings the rate to just under $110 which is about what we guessed the rate would end up being.

Haze has the ugliest logo I've ever seen. Even Circus Circus did a better job with its logo. I mean, is that supposed to be a blimp forecasting the weather as hazy for the rest of the week? The rest are actually semi-decent, but they're just so generic and bland that you can't even tell how the lounges will be. What, will they have monkeys at Gold Lounge and Goodyear tires at Haze?

Isn't the Haze logo similar to one of the MGM "ultra lounges" can't remember if it's tabu or rouge, or which one. Looks very familiar though, although I know creativity isn't the MGM trademark.
