Hotel32 Gets Real

At last, the people running the poor man's Skylofts have come to their senses in more ways than one.

To start, they’ve realized people don't book pricey rooms based on cryptic promotional e-mails and flowery talk. We like floorplans, virtual tours, and pictures, pictures, pictures. A recent update to their site finally delivers the goods.

Though they're still missing plans, we get the infinitely cool walk-around tour Mandalay had adopted for their site a few years ago. The verdict? Awesome lounge, retro cool penthouses, while other parts seem to carry a contemporary twist on the blandness downstairs.

We also get the ultra awesome, but equally useless "remote" tour where you can guide others through the room from your own point of view. I can't imagine a scenario where I'd need to use this, but the concept is neat. For the record, giving it a test run between a Firefox-running PC and Safari-running Mac = FAIL.

Even better than their recent site update, however, is their latest special (click "Hotel32 Special" in the sidebar) with rooms as low as $170. Not a bad deal at all, especially if you normally book roundtrip limo and have an appetite for hard cookies and heat lamp buffalo wings.

I'm still trying to find a good reason to try the place, but with ARIA up the street running as low as $149, here's predicting Hotel32 will remain a haven for the Buick RFB crowd.

Comments & Discussion:

The studio and suite rooms only have showers. For that kind of money, I want a soaking tub.

No bar in the lounge. Free happy hour is a must for concierge floors.

The airport limo service is the only advantage (and I typically drive).

No way this works with Aria and Vdara offering nicer rooms at a lower price point.
