Welcome to the 20th Century Player's Club!

Let's rejoice in MGM Mirage updating their Player's Club website to the 20th (they've still got a ways to get to the 21st) century!

It used to be that when you logged in, you'd see about 20 offers, 14 of which would be expired. If you were lucky, maybe one of these offers would be bookable online. But now they've streamlined the site, cutting the clutter by outing expired offers, while highlighting the features of their latest incentives. No more of the old, cryptic
"Call VIP Services."

There's still a ways to go, though. Supposedly comped rooms seem to come up with rather unreasonable prices when booked online - not necessarily a big deal when you know it's going to be taken care of, but a little disconcerting nevertheless. I'm seeing prices of $105 at The Mirage, for example, on an otherwise three complimentary nights. It's also got a lot of catching up to do to compete with the thoroughness of Harrah's Total Rewards system, where they go so far as to ask you the Total Rewards card numbers of the companions staying in your room.

Despite these shortcomings, we're definitely seeing an improvement and a welcome freshening of a website in more dire need of one than Mirage's top floor suites. It's about time the second biggest casino company makes the second best casino loyalty website.

Now if only Wynn and LVS could get the hell out of the Stone Age.
