Encore Upgrades : Breaking Down The Costs

Big brother Wynn has a total of 264 Salon and Parlor suites. Encore? Only 94. As a result, for all the talk about Vegas hurting financially, suites at Encore haven't budged since their prices were set when they first opened. If anything, we've actually seen a slight increase since.

On the bright side, upgrading at check in is a pretty good value. So if $900 is a little too much to swing for an Encore Salon Suite, here's a little way of predicting what the rooms will run you before you check in.

Take the cost of the room you're currently in (R), subtract it from the room you'd like to upgrade to (U), divide by two, and then round up to a nice, even-sounding number. A little algebra

round(UR - R / 2)

So for example, a Panoramic "suite" is $50 more per night than the standard Resort option. Expect an upgrade to this to run you $25 per night (though it's not unheard of to make this leap by just asking nicely). On a larger scale, a Resort "suite" reserved at $200 will upgrade to a typically $500-per-night Parlor for an extra $150 ([$500-$200]/2).

Not a bad deal, especially when you throw in the extra Tower Suites perks.

Comments & Discussion:

I checked in last sunday (August 16th) and they quoted me and the couple at the next till $50 a night to upgrade from a resort room to a tower suite. Of course when we both said yes they then didn't have any rooms available.
