M Resort Does Away With Resort Fees (Yay?)
Yup, no more $25 per night extra charge.
But wait.
Take a deep breath and get a hold of yourself. Those of you sick of those sneaky fees who wished they'd be included in the nightly price should have been more careful what you wished for.
It wasn't unheard of to score M for under $60 per weeknight before they did away with the fees. Sure, $25 extra was a little steep, but I for one almost always use the spa facilities and the in-room internet where ever I'm staying. And of course, M also offers the round trip shuttles to the airport and strip. All for $25? Not a bad deal, actually.
But now, without any "hidden" charges, you'd actually be lucky to find M at less than $90 per night. Even the slowest weeknights of the year - the days leading up to Thanksgiving and Christmas - are at $100. They might still offer the shuttles, but now there's no mention of spa facilities access or in-room internet. If any VT readers can confirm that these are still included, please let us know. Otherwise, allow me to play devil's advocate and say, I welcome the resort fees.

Comments & Discussion:
I too use the spa and WiFi, so they make sense for me. Since everybody pays, this must be a cash cow for them. I would guess they have already recouped the capital costs of providing these services and might want to consider a reduction to $10-15.
The initial problem with these fees was getting the 3rd party reservation sites to disclose them up front. I think that issue has largely been solved.
