The Best Vegas News of 2009?
Maybe, we're finally seeing things turn around.
Sure, there's always a little thorn on the side of any good news to come out of Las Vegas - one current prick goes by the name Fontainebleau - but as of only a few months ago, it was damn near impossible to read anything positive about this city.
Now we're hearing about Tropicana's renovations, Treasure Island tossing in a mechanical bull, and Monte Carlo dusting off the ash from its top floor; these stories aren't making national headlines, but Vegas will take what it can get right now.
In the latest edition of The Strip Podcast, Steve and Miles did mention one tidbit, however, that might be the best damn news of all year - Christian Audigier: The Nightclub at Treasure Island is closing by the end of summer!
In what seemed like a venue that lasted no longer than the tight-shirts-for-men-with-manboobs fad that was Ed Hardy, Audigier's club will join the ranks of the trucker cap and Von Douche line of clothing that he was also credited for.
Now, if there were only a way to boycott this guy from doing... um... pretty much anything. That'd be the best news of all.

If i remember correctly, I asked folks what the over/under on how long this joint would last. If you bet the over on Vespajet's guess of "6 months", you're in the money.
Always thought this was a great location with the patio overlooking the strip and pirate ships. I used to go to Tangerine during the afternoon for a few drinks. Do you think the replacement will be a pirate themed club, Gilley's, or a generic style lounge? They could put Gilley's in on a temp basis, but it would require a lot of remodeling. The space could easily be used as a restaurant/bar.
I hope the space becomes a good loungey type bar or restaurant. I used to enjoy Tangerine as well, good place to have a mid-afternoon patio beer
Why did this not happen 15 years ago when I was dating a chick who demanded we travel the hour to Pink's from Orange County at least once a week? This way I could have mixed up my travels, and had a lot more fun.
