40th Annual World Series Of Poker Starts Today

The 40th Annual World Series of Poker starts today, Tuesday May 26th, 2009 at the Rio. Registration and satellite games start at noon today with the first event - "Casino Employees No-Limit Hold 'Em" (my money is on MGM Mirage CEO Terry Lanni Jim Murren) - kicks off on Wednesday.

These are followed in quick succession by $40,000 No Limit Hold 'Em (Thursday), $1,500 Omaha Hi-Low (Friday), $1,000 No Limit Hold Em (Saturday), $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha (Monday) and on and on and on until the whole thing wraps up sometime in November. Seriously!

Just like last year, the 'Big Game' will be delayed when it reaches the final table on July 15th until after all 9 zillion hours of video tape are sync'd up with Norman Chad's cactus wilting quips and aired on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNHD on up to ESPNW23HD.2.0.5.

By the time this whole thing is done I'm gonna 40 years old... literally - November 7th is the big day for both the WSOP and C.IS.40.OMG.I.GOTTA.P.

Those tuned into the Twitter might be interested to know that there is an official WSOP Twitter account @wsoptweets or is it @wsop... hrm, they both say they are the official World Series of Poker Tweetspieler... maybe one of them is bluffing?
