'Stacked' Poker Comes to Xbox

Gambling is great! Not only is it incredibly addictive, but it also provides the kind of excitement that only coming close to losing your house, firstborn son, and Ford Pinto (the finest of automobiles) can inspire. While nearly losing the teeth out of your mouth might not be your kind of excitement, the land of no limit poker has been attracting a much larger crowd than it ever used to, largely because of the influx of televised games on ESPN and the Travel Channel. A lot of us at IGN play cards often so we can attest to the call of both outwitting and simply getting luckier than your opponent to take a big score.

What we haven't seen up to now is a high production value poker simulation with decent AI. It would figure that somebody would have tried to build something for gamers that like pokers, but also like good gaming experiences. Luckily for Meylin Media, one of the newer publishers on the block, they seem to be the first to attempt this. What's better, they're trying to attempt it across all platforms. At this point, a PS2 version hasn't been confirmed, but we have a pretty good feeling that it might be announced fairly soon.

In any case, being the gambling idiots that we are, we decided to ask Meylin some questions about their upcoming poker title Stacked to see what made it so special compared to the craptastic poker games we've seen up to now. Apparently the answer is star power, presentation, and AI. All good qualities for games as far as we're concerned. Kenneth Woo, Producer at Meylin, stepped up to the table to fill in the details.
