Harrah's Gibraltar - Oh Yeah!

Look out internet casinos, here comes Harrah's.

Harrah's Entertainment has hired Mitch Garber, who previously headed Party Gaming (Paaaaaaarty Poker!) to run a new division of the company focused on web ops and the World Series of Poker.

As you probably know, internet gambling is "illegal" in the United States, thanks to the Security and Accountability For Every Port Act of 2006

The SAFE Port Act was designed to keep boneheads from making stupid poker moves against Sam Farha, online fight terrorism. I doubt they meant The Unabomber, Phil Laak.

One can guess that Harrah's thinks that the Obama administration might move on legalizing & regulating online gambling - the President is a poker player after all - and could get a very cost effective jump on the burgeoning industry with Garber and the WSOP in their munitions depot.

This could become very very interesting.

I dont think there is a chance in Hell that online gambling will be legalized by the Obama administration but I dont see the Justice Dept getting too worked up about it either.
