MGM Grand Sues Wayne F. Newton Inc.
Will someone please recommend a proper accountant/financial manager to Wayne F. Newton already?
Looks like Wayne (d/b/a Desert Eagle LLC... seriously!) forgot to pay his helicopter pilot. The pilot sued, and won a judgement to the tune of $455,250.54 plus $126/day interest. As of February 9, a Writ of Execution was filed for $460,324.94 and the court ordered MGM Grand to garnish Wayne's wages from future performances at the green monster's Hollywood Theatre.
In the lawsuit, MGM states that they do not have a contract with WFN, but an unsigned contract with "Erin Miel Inc." As such, they can't guarantee that any wages paid to Erin Miel Inc, will be paid to Wayne. Wayne Inc. is currently owed $33,004.89 by MGM for his last five night stand, one night of which Wayne called in sick.
Basically, MGM is asking to be removed from the equation by placing Wayne's due fees in the hands of the court. Sayonara, buy-bye, arrivaderci, danke schoen.
The full court document can be read here.
As an aside, the LV Sun's piece on this (which is what brought it to our attention) has a truly creepy photo of WFN in it. Possible caption: "This is not the $455k you're looking for."

Desert Eagle LLC - ecchhhhh. Hopefully his desert eagle "accidentally" goes off in his face as he cleans it
maybe they should have included a credit card reader on the helicopter and a sign that said please pay first before flying
