Seven Seven Seven Thumbs Up, Way Up... For Richard Roeper

I'm not a big fan of the movie industry, but I am a huuge fan of movie critic and all-around smarty guy Richard Roeper. Like many other non-Chicagoans, I first became acquainted with Richard on "Ebert & Roeper At The Movies" and watched the show nearly every week until Richard left last year due to contract disputes.

Richard posted on his blog this week that he is beginning work on a new project, one with a subject matter near and very dear to my heart : gambling!

In a vein slightly similar to Brewster's Millions and very similar to 24/7, Richard has set out to gamble at least $1000/day, every day for the next thirty days, and document the entire experience in book form. There are tons of other very fascinating parameters he's set up for himself, but the gist is he's going to wager all that money in as many ways and places as possible - probably culminating in a trip to the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.

So far the 'trip' has included numerous basketball 'nail biters' a horrific run at blackjack and a massive fire at the Empress Casino in Joliet, IL yesterday. Looks like this book is gonna be hot.

Read about it here, and follow the action via Twitter.

Comments & Discussion:

Wow, I usually pay much less to be fucked over a barrel in Las Vegas.
