Battle Royale : Las Vegas Sands vs. The Big Mac
Fortunately for us buffoons, the Economist has been maintaining a global economic standard for the common man - the hamburger standard, ie. The Big Mac Index.
As of February 4, 2009, the U.S. hamburger standard is $3.54. The current price for a Big Mac in Canada is C$4.16 (~US$3.36, an $-.18 difference).
At the moment of this writing - which is on the cusp Las Vegas Sands Corp's reporting of Q4 financial - LVS stock is US$3.79/share, +$.25 on the BMI.
LVS' market cap via the Big Mac Index, you ask? Easy:
376,567,796.6 Big Macs

Comments & Discussion:
This article is another reason that this is the best Vegas site anywhere. Which will appreciate in value more in the next 12 months LVS or the Big Mac? Smart money is on the burger being worth more at the end of 2009.
or the big mac will still be here, and the casino may or may not...... and probably that same big mac too
