Fontainebleau Details Emerge

Fontainebleau Las Vegas has redesigned their website and added a ton of details about the resort, which steaming towards completion in advance of a November 2009 opening. Unlike Wynn and MGM, the Fontainebleau folks aren't being as tightlipped about the info... a smart move since none of us know exactly what to expect from a new company on the block.

So, without further adieu... here's what we now know:

Fontainebleau's accommodations will include 3,800 "flats & suites" fitted with marble bathrooms, custom artwork (generated by visitors photos via iMacs?), flat panel TV's, and - as broke last year - 20" Apple iMac computers in every room. Personally, I've got my eyeballs on one of those angular corner suites that overlook the Strip in both directions. Booking is scheduled to begin in "early 2009" so we can expect even more details including room renderings to emerge sooner rather than later.

Dining at Fontainebleau will feature a whopping total of 28 bars, restaurants and lounges, some of which have been either named or revealed their culinary focus. They include:

Gotham Bar and Grill - Executive Chef Alfred Portale
Scarpetta (Italian) - Chef Scott Conant
Name TBA (Asian/Cantonese) - Chef Alan Yau
TBA (American-style bistro)
Name TBA (Chocolate factory w/chocolate waterfall)
Name TBA (noodle shop)
Name TBA (celato/gourmet coffee)
Name TBA (Beach bar & restaurant)

Entertainment will include a "creative, avant-garde theatre production" (not Cirque - amen!) as well as content generated by visitors (probably photos), presumably through the iMac's and projected throughout various parts of the resort. Let's see how long it takes before nudie shots make it into the mix.

...participation allows guests to tailor experiences to their own desires... technology encourages guests to share unique memories and create a perpetual experience.

The luxurious seven acre pool deck - located seven stories above The Strip - will be called "Cloud 9" and, like XS at Encore, will be an all day and most of the night party spot. Cloud 9 will feature five pools, three spas, three restaurants, a nightclub, an ultralounge, cabanas, daybeds and an outdoor casino.

Casino will feature 145 table games, a 21 table poker room, 1,700 slots and a "high tech" race and sports book.

The Lapis Spa will be truly massive - 60,000 square feet - and feature indoor rainfalls, changing columns of light, 55 treatment rooms, four wet rooms, a 96-foot coed mineral pool, a salon, steam rooms, fitness center and for those looking for the maximum spa experience VIP Spa Suites.

The Runway - Fontainebleau's 300,000 square foot shopping promenade - promises to be as much of a high-tech entertainment piece as it is a place to go boutique hopping.

For those interested in holding meetings and conventions at Fontainebleau, or those interested in peeping at some architectural floor plans of parts of the resort, here's a downloadable pdf containing all the pertinent goodies.

There's even a video (with many 3-D architectural rendering flythroughs) showing all sorts of renderings of the interior of the resort.

And finally, here's one two three four construction photos taken a few days ago.

We'll have lots more Fontainebleau pre-opening goodies coming in the next few weeks.

Comments & Discussion:

Great find. Thanks for the info Chuck! Another mega killer luxe resort opening. I couldn't even imagine being the owner of a lower tiered property in a shitty location and having to compete.

What a gift to the consumers with ridiculously low room rates at hotels that in other major cities would command triple the nightly rate.

Vegas Luxury For The Masses, Sweet!

So now that its apparent this project will actually open, I'm curious. I remember reading somewhere they claimed they were "Luxurious yet affordable and modern". And with the economy as well, what room rates should we expect? Palazzo-esque?
