And so, it begins...

(yes, again)

The assemblage of lost seconds, minutes, hours and days - gathered on the mathematical floor of history via handy javascript reduction - is exponentially greater than than those yet to fall.

Tick by brick, time and architectural engineering - two of the more mysterious concepts I've ever encountered - have been enjoying a long slow vertical smooch, in phenomenally documented, public yet private, daily viewings at the intersection of the Las Vegas Strip and Desert Inn Road.

Oogling, measuring and shaking the box are standard fare for the holiday season... but watching a gift grow from girders to astro-grass ("It's expensive! Seven bucks a foot!") then applying saddlebrown cellophane glass gift wrapping topped by a ribbon of lights.

Amidst the mountainous piles of coal, Santa brought Las Vegas a gift.

And so it begins...

Here, as dawn spills through the window on a near freezing Saturday in L.A., in a week when snow blanketed the Strip for the first time in 30 years, in a year where hope trumped the status quo and society as we know it has teetered on the brink of financial ruin, the opening of Encore Las Vegas is infinitely more than the addition of line items in bookstore travel guides. Encore - as yet unwrapped, is a monument not of excess, but to people everywhere who not only dare, but live to dream, dream to create and create dreams, some imperfect, in all of our lives.

Is Encore.

And... through the magic of technology, we are there. From Atlanta to Boston, Calgary to Detroit, Edmonton to Florida, Germany to Hong Kong, Irvine to Japan, Korea to Los Angeles, Minneapolis to New York, Oklahoma City to Queens, Reno to South Dakota, Texas to Santa Barbara, Ukraine to Virginia, West Palm Beach to Excalibur and yellow snow eating Zappa fans too.

EncoreTripping begins now. Now go yourself a damn Twitter account already.
