Digital Sands

Three dimensional fly-through casino renderings aren't just for resorts of the future.

Thanks to a partnership between UNLV Entertainment Engineering and Design program and the Politecnico du Torino, Italy, the former Sands Hotel & Casino is being preserved digitally for future generations to enjoy, virtually.

When all is said and done, visitors to the "digital Sands" will be able to interact with its 3D CGI environment from the marquee to the pool to the Copa Room and the casino.

No word yet on whether or not the renderings will include a vignette featuring legendary Sands performer (and point holder) Frank Sinatra... backstage... punching a dealer in the mouth.

Check out a slide show of the digital Sands project here.
