The New Rooms at Fremont Hotel & Casino

Boyd Gaming is on a roll. Even though Echelon has been mothballed (a smart move given the current economic climate) they've been going full steam ahead renovating rooms, restaurants and public areas at many of their other Las Vegas properties.

Hot on the heels of new rooms at Gold Coast and The California, Fremont has unveiled new rooms as well.

The design sense is similar to the other two - nearly identical actually - if it ain't broke, don't f- it up. The rooms clock in at 240 sq.ft. for the King & 288 sq.ft. for the Dual Doubles - tiny. A quick scan of room rates for Sunday 12/21 (the night Encore opens) peg these at $36 - also tiny.

Deluxe King

Sharp, simple, smart & clean. Love the shutters, the simple plush chair and the photographs. Sayonara hotel mountainscapes and sea chanteys! The carpet is pretty neato too.

Deluxe Two Doubles

Peekaboo... no flat screen TV! We'll peg that to a future upgrade... hopefully?

Bathroom/Sink

It's a mini-sink, with vintage looking fixtures... kinda like an updated version of the sinks at the Golden Gate.

Bathroom/Sink

Alternate view of essentially the same bathroom. You know the bathroom is small when they can barely fit a camera inside it.

Fremont Hotel Casino New Lobby

The registration desk/lobby area is brand spankin new too.

Have any of you stayed or visited here lately?

These rooms are pretty swanky. I'm trying to decide if I want to stay one night in downtown on my next trip out there. I was originally stuck on GN but I might change my mind. These look pretty nice and I'm sure they're cheaper than the GN.

We stayed at the Fremont for three nights this past spring & had a Ball Rooms were great Very clean , There not Huge but we dont go to Vegas to stay in the room.. the houskeeping staff was great .. always stopped us in the morning and asked if we needed anything. The whole Property is run Just like the Stardust was ..Clean and WELL managed with Pleasant employees that seem to enjoy thier Jobs.. this was Our first time staying downtown and it wont be the last .. we Used to stay at the Stardust But since its closed theres no reason to go to the strip all the Mega Resorts have killed the strip.. Fremont street STILL feels like Vegas!!

Those rooms do look quite nice. It just makes me wonder when TLC Enterprises is going to start renovating the rooms @ Binion's. If they don't start soon, I may be moving "across the street" to the Fremont for a future trip regardless of what kind of room offers Binion's throws my way. Boyd Gaming really is focusing on making their downtown properties really sharp, as the Coast properties lack the "Old Vegas" appeal that the Stardust had.

boyd is offering great stuff for the price. yes the rooms are small and don't have the plush mattresses or gizmos that some of us love, but for the donuts their offerings really stand out downtown.

I'm trying to get the wife to pack a light bag on ourn next trip, so if we go downtown and get too tired to drive back to the Strip, we can find a good value room. I think I'll show her these pix, they look great, especially for the money.
