Is Aliante Station A Bilingual Oxymoron?

Fact: a brand new locals joint, Aliante Station opens this Tuesday evening. Yay... another Stations Casino! Whooop Dee Doo!

The question really is... wtf is an aliante anyways? Other than being a general term for a neighborhood in the north western quadrant of greater Las Vegas, aliante - the word - roughly translates (from Italian) to 'gliding' or 'moving with ease.'

Couple that with "station" and you get a borderline oxymoron... or least a linguistic dissonance.

¡Muy Aliante!

Comments & Discussion:

Great post--maybe they mean that while the Station appears to be stationary, it's actually hurtling through space--along with the rest of us--at 67,000 mph. At the same time, it's making a sweep with the solar system through one of the outward spirals of the unfashionable east side of the galaxy....

Ah, I give up. They just thought it sounded cool.

I like how their buffet is called FEAST! (Like one of my favorite horror movies).
As far as the aliante thing goes....I have no idea. I typed it into Dictionary.com and it came back saying "Did you mean to spell Alienate?"

lol @ "Alienation Station."
