One of the well known road apples on I-15 at the California/Nevada state line has been temporarily put out to pasture due to a gigantic buffalo chip aka "the economy."

Buffalo Bills Hotel & Casino in Primm, Nevada has taken drastic steps to reduce costs in the face of plummeting Vegas tourism - closing it's hotel midweek.

The hotel's website is currently redirecting the "reservations" link to the Primm Valley reservation system. A little poking around will lead you to the Buff Bills res page, sans form and showing a calendar full of "SOLD".

Even though hotel rooms are closed, the casino, restaurants and - most importantly - the urinals, are still operating. Oh, and the B-52's show at Whiskey Pete's is still happening, even if there are no rooms at the Love Shack, Baby across the freeway.

Comments & Discussion:

Unfortunately it makes some sense, although I would have thought they would keep maybe one or two floors of the hotel open, just in case someone needed a room.

I would suspect that if occupancy in the big megaresorts also starts to fall, you will see them shut down whole floors of the hotel at a time and lock those floors out from the elevators. They could then cut power to those floors and do a temp layoff of housekeeping for those floors and mayve save a few bucks.
