Periodically we like to share some emails we get via the contact form, figuring that the answers might be worth sharing publicly. Here's a coupla emails we've gotten from first time visitors, sent here to nominate for the Trippies:

From: Bev

Comments: Please update your site. I was referred to your site by a "trusted" site to do a survie [think that means 'survey', i.e. the Trippies - ed]. I have been snooping aroung and found outdated information....... Wayne Newton : Wayne Newton's Las Vegas : Episode #1 How could he live so close to a "Wayne Newton Theatre" that doesn't exist?

Thanks Bev...

For those who don't know, Bev is referring to a recap of an MTV Cribs style show about Wayne Newton, which was on TV about 5 years ago. That content isn't outdated, it's a document of that show.

At the time the show was aired (2004?), Wayne was performing at the 'Wayne Newton Theatre' inside the Stardust. Both of which are now in a landfill.

Next letter comes from Bill... take it away:

Comments: In your nominations for trippies you left out several important casinos(Sam's Town, Boulder Station, Santa Fe Station, Sunset Station, Ellis Island, Skyline, Longhorn) and included ones that are closed or not open or never heard of (Blue Moon?)

Thanks Bill... as noted on the Trippies voting page, we've purposely omitted locals joints from the selections, mostly because the Trippies is 'tourist centric.' After thinking about it a little bit more due to your inquiry, we decided add some of the larger locals joints to the list. The reasoning is simple : with the economic situation what it is, more and more folks are opting to stay and play at locals joints. So if you (or anyone reading this for that matter) really wanted to nominate Sam's Town for something, you now can - go nuts.

As for the 'closed' joints and joints you've never heard of, for some categories, they could be considered plausible nominees.

P.S. Blue Moon is a men's gay hotel located near Stratosphere. Our reporter Ace Copland (who stopped contributing to VT because he moved to Minneapolis) stayed at Blue Moon and brought back all the lurid details.
