Note To Self : Don't Bring Counterfeit Cash To Harrah's Las Vegas

Tourist Gail Chandler had no idea that the money she was gambling at Harrah's Las Vegas was counterfeit. Apparently, neither did the travel agency which booked her trip and converted currency for her from before arriving for Vegas from her home in the UK.

Chandler, a 58 year old advertising executive, obtained $5k of cash from Thompson, a UK travel agency, which included two crispy new, yet bogus, $100 bills. Little did she know that the 2008 edition of her annual Las Vegas trip would include a handcuffed tour of the backrooms at Harrah's Las Vegas after attempting to break said bill via a cocktail server.

As a result of the cocktail waitresses reporting of the bogus cash, Miss Chandler was frogmarched through the casino floor, downstairs into the backroom, handcuffed and interrogated and was subject to a full body search plus a complimentary re-arrangement of her belongings by the Secret Service upstairs in the hotel tower.

After bouts of nausea and hyperventilation caused by the interrogation, Miss Chandler was released by the authorities only to hide in her hotel room for the remainder of her trip.

Not surprisingly, she's cancelled any future trips to Las Vegas.

You think that's bad? Check out this story sent to us by a MacauTripping reader from Canada, wherein he tells his counterfeit US bills horror story, this time at the hands of the Venetian Macao.

Comments & Discussion:

That's crazy. I read the Macau story, why are $50 bills bad luck in a casino??
