Updated : Timeline of Future Las Vegas Casinos : 2008-2014
Some may remember this handy dandy graphic that I posted a few months ago... with the late scratch of Echelon and a coupla other question marks, it's time for an update.
Most notable, of course, is Echelon being put on ice for three financial quarters... pushing its theoretical opening date back to Q2 2011 at the earliest. The M Resort is now on track to open in March 2009 according to the LVSun. The arena that was planned for the parking lot behind Bally's and Paris has also moved further into the future.
The design of the MGM/Kerzner property (across the street from Sahara) will be finished this fall, however groundbreaking has been put on hold indefinitely.
I'm going to guess here that we're going to see a lot more of the projects scheduled for 2010-2012 pushed back even further if not hosed completely.

Supposedly, Harrah's/AEG were going to break ground on the arena this summer. The only renderings of the arena that have surfaced were actually of another project and were quickly taken off of AEG's website and the only mention of it is the press release from last August. If they are to make their projected 2010 opening (especially if they intend to actually have a pro sports team tenant for the 2010-2011 season of a league), they need to have a groundbreaking by the middle of September at the latest. Most arena projects take 2-3 years to complete, but considering that in Vegas 24/7 construction is the norm, they could definitely put up a 20,000 seat arena in less time than it takes to build a large hotel tower.
Your timeline is missing the opening of a couple of "locals" casinos this year. The East Side Cannery is set to open within the next couple of months. Aliante Station is set to open on 11/8/08.
