Finding The Best Rates Using Las Vegas Hilton's Two Booking Engines

The Las Vegas Hilton apparently has two different booking engines... one under the property website (lvhilton.com) and another under Hilton Hotels' corporate website (lasvegashilton.com). Being curious, I compared rates for the weekend of August 15th on each booking engine and found some interesting results.

Booking Las Vegas Hilton Best Rates

Rates through lvhilton.com were slightly higher for standard room options and had the higher end suites in the mix as well. The lasvegashilton.com booking engine (right) displayed many more offers (no suites), at but little description of what exactly you were going to get for the money. The rates, well... they're a fraction of what the lvhilton website was offering if you dive into some of the offered options.

This is, of course, a completely non-scientific study... I'm sure if you check multiple dates you'll find all sorts of different combinations of rates between the two sites. I'm not exactly sure how many of you will find this tip helpful (does the Hilton have fans?) but if you're looking at booking there, doing some comparison between its two booking engines could save you big bucks, no whammies.

Comments & Discussion:

There is indeed one -- I would qualify as a "LV Hilton fan." Or at least was, until they announced that the Star Trek Experience (and more importantly, Quark's Bar) would be closed in September. Nevertheless, I like the Hilton's layout, their classy casino ambiance, their huge sports book, their late-night happy-hour margaritas in the cantina, and their video poker with the fairly decent paytables. And my wife has developed a jones for the bacon on their breakfast buffet (she's certain there's heroin in it).

That said, there is a third option: call the reservations line and tell them that you'd like to sign up for the players club card. They will put you through to the "VIP" reservations line, you can sign up for the card on the phone, and you'll get a far better rate than those listed (last trip there going this route was $10/night better than Kayak.com's best deal). And the $20 trick at checkin worked like a charm -- got us into one of their nice, newly-renovated rooms with the big flatscreen TVs and a nice 21st-floor view.

Hope this nets you other LV Hilton fans a great deal!

great tips on the hilton, blackhillsboozehound!
