Gambling Apps For New iPod Touch/iPhone 2.0
So the iTunes App store is set to launch today and we've got a sneak peek of some of the new gambling related applications that will be released with the launch. I guess you can buy stuff from the store, but nothing is going to work until iPhone/iPod touch software 2.0 is released later this week.

Texas Hold 'Em - Apple
The Apple Texas Hold Em app allows you to play against bots or versus your iPhone/iPod enabled buddies via Wi-Fi network. How cool is that. Nine Players can play at once.

5 Card Touch - Griffin Technology
5 card touch is a video poker application, pretty sparse in design but it keeps track of all of lifetime stats and gives you $1000 fake bucks to blow from the get go.

Video Poker - Mobility Ware
'Video Poker' is a video poker application, which seems to be a little light on features. Jacks or Better is currently the only game offered.

Fast Draw Video Poker - Glenn Seeman
Fast Draw Poker features a multitude of games (Jacks or Better, Deuces Wild or Joker Poker) with different pay tables. Not so hot on the design though, why not just make the thing look like an exact replica of a Game King? As for features, this seems like the most versatile (and is the most expensive - $4.99 US).

Blackjack (3-Hand) - Pepper Stuff
Fill up three spots on the blackjack table with customizable house rules, number of decks, early/late surrender and a bunch of other stuff.

Blackjack - Mobility
One hand blackjack, with fixed rules and game variations : dealer stands on soft 17, split, double down and a natural pays 3:2.

Blackjack - Mobile Age
A very configurable blackjack game with sharp graphics. You can even choose between different table felts/card types (including actual Vegas casino cards from the gift shop). That's the settings screen to give you an idea of how you can mash it up.

Blackjack Helper - iFRizzo
Yeah... this isn't even an application. Its the Basic Strategy card in your phone/pod. Useless. Why? If you're constantly fiddling with your phone when sitting at a casino table you'll get booted. The folks stupid enough to buy this application deserve to get beat at the tables.

Dice - Matthew Tilchen
There is no craps game, but there is this - a virtual set of dice that can be tossed by spinning around the iPhone/iPod or wiping the screen with your finger. All you need is people and you've got a game of street craps. If I had the time to build an iPhone app, this is pretty much the one I would do... but the dice would be red, not white. This ain't Monopoly after all.

Reel Deal Slots
Slot machines without the cash component are about as interesting as watching C-Span while amped up on speed. Pass.
This is by no means a complete list of all gambling related games coming to the iTunes App Store this week. If you go download the latest version of iTunes (7.7) then click here, you can check em all out yourself. If you happen to find some interesting stuff that we might have missed, please post a comment.

Comments & Discussion:
I was coming here to whine that all the blackjack games look like crap, then I saw "Blackjack 21" by MobileAge. It's exactly the kind of fully-customizable game I was looking for, without silly avatars or weird non-standard rules/gameplay.
I was looking for something as simple and perfect as the basic strategy trainer at BlackjackInfo.com and that's what BJ21 appears to be... Nice, Apple-glossy graphics and all.
Of course, I don't have my iPhone 3G yet, but I've already spent $5 on this app! Thanks for the heads up!

Take a look at Aw Craps! for iPhone. Very realistic betting and odds. Flick to throw dice. Manual dice rolls for learning. Simple tutorial to get you going fast.
