Obama Endorses Bellagio, McCain Eats Lunch At Eldorado (Reno)

The two Presidential candidates have been doing the rounds of Nevada's gamblin' towns in the last day or so. Sen. Barack Obama visited a family facing foreclosure on their home, despite the husband and wife having jobs at one of the ritziest joints in town - Bellagio.

Speaking of Bellagio, Sen. Obama had this to say about it, as well as expressing a desire to hit the blackjack table.

[Bellagio] is a wonderful hotel. The only problem with me is when I come to Las Vegas, I'm not allowed to have fun. Everybody knows me. If I start playing blackjack, I'll get in trouble.

Meanwhile, Sen. John McCain held a rally at the Boys and Girls Club in Truckee, then headed over to the Eldorado for a fundraising lunch - $1-$5k per plate.

Sen. McCain limited his comments to public policy, the war in Iraq and other political matters. The Senator from Arizona didn't mention any desire to stop off at the craps table or yank on a few handles of the Wheel of Fortune slots.

Presidential gambling is certainly not a new phenomenon. Previous office holders were known poker sharks, including Harry Truman, Richard Nixon, John F. Kennedy, Franklin Roosevelt, Warren Harding and Lyndon Johnson. Apparently, Sen. Obama is a spirited poker player as well.
