Ooops: Sir Charles Barkley Welches On Markers at Wynn
Former NBA superstar Charles Barkley is on the verge of being thrown into the slammer unless he coughs up a buzzer beating $400,000 to pay back four markers he signed at Wynn Las Vegas last year.
The Las Vegas Sun is reporting that Wynn Las Vegas filed a lawsuit to get the loot back or charge "Sir" Charles with a felony. Under Nevada's gambling debt laws, unpaid signed markers are equivalent to writing bad checks to the loaner and can be criminally prosecuted.
Mr. Barkley says he's lost about 10 big ones (as in Millions) gambling since he quit playing hoops. Has he learned his lesson? Apparently not. He did have this to say in an interview with ESPN:
But I’ve got to understand you can’t beat the casino. You might win a lot of money from them, but in the long run they are going to win more money from you, and I’ve got to get to a point where I don’t gamble for as much.
Which means, Chuck should hit the $5 craps tables instead of the $500 blackjack tables.

I like that one better. Those people owe Wynn over a million dollars in markers. Why do people do this? Take out credit to gamble with? If you can't already afford to do it then don't!
But when you're rich you do whatever you want.
What's interesting too is when you read the RJ article you see that he took a 100k marker one day in October, then another 100k marker the very next day - that must mean he lost 100k in one day at the Wynn tables. That had to be a very bad day.
