Restaurant Charlie Kitchen Table Loft at Palazzo
Did a return trip to the Palazzo this weekend to see how things have been settling and so Miss Monkay could check out some of the menus of the restaurants that hadn't opened previously. Overall, most of the rough edges at Palazzo seems to have been further honed, and nearly all of the boo-boo tape has been removed. Despite some of the properties shortcomings and blah-ness, the new restaurants - one in particular - are quite intriguing.
Tucked away in a far corner of the casino, hidden in an isolated area obstructed from view by a massive escalator is Charlie Trotter's new joint Restaurant Charlie. Frankly, if Restaurant Charlie and I didn't share a name, I probably would've skipped over it without a second thought. While I snapped a couple of photos of the sign out front, Miss Monkay studied the menu and found an item that every foodie would find fascinating.
Restaurant Charlie offers a special menu served to guests seated at a table perched above the kitchen. Each day, the Kitchen Table Loft menu is created specifically for each group of diners and takes into account their various likes, dislikes and food allergies. How cool is that?
Intrigued, we headed inside to get some more information from the hostess, who dropped her pre-opening duties and answered all of our questions. She described the whole affair as we walked through the restaurant en route to the kitchen, so we could see the table loft's location. All of the chefs working in the kitchen stopped in their tracks and greeted us.
If you're a food nut who loves watching chefs at work via Food Network, Top Chef or Hells Kitchen, reserving the kitchen menu table at Restaurant Charlie might be a pinnacle full sensory culinary experience. We've already made tentative plans to do this in the future, and will definitely report back when we do it.
Additionally, the interaction with the staff at Restaurant Charlie was a truly fabulous experience and a great example of top notch customer service, something the Venetian/Palazzo complex isn't particularly known for.
The Kitchen Table Loft can accommodate up to 8 guests and prices start at $250/person. Definitely make Kitchen Table Loft reservations as far in advance as humanly possible.
