Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority Steals Our MyVegas Thingy
Here's one for the lawyers.
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (visitlasvegas.com) launched a social networking thingy for Vegas folks called... MyVegas, in February 2008, a little less than TWO YEARS after we did the very same thing with the exact same name.
Yeah, they've got more money than Jesus and spent a ton of it to hiring a tech firm to whip up some software (which most likely has more bells and whistles) plus they advertise like mad, hence more members. Regardless of the David and Goliath of budgets, we did this waaay waaaaay waaaaaay before them and very well could have some kind of legal leg to stand on.
Here's the original post announcing the arrival of our MyVegas with the VT 3.0 redesign on April 23, 2006. Plus... here's Exhibit B : Two Way Hard Three's appraisal of the redesign to confirm the date of launch.
This could be interesting.

Comments & Discussion:
My Vegas is OUR hood-not theirs, OUR community-not theirs. My Vegas is where VEGASTRIPPERS share their know-how, experiences and opinions (good or bad). Real stuff from real people. They need to find another name so folks don't get it twisted. I'm sure their site will be watered-down, sanitized and heavily monitored. FK THEM! We were here first!
Check your facts before complaining about your "thingy" being stolen. Here is an archived copy of VisitLasVegas.com from March of 2005 with a link to the MyVegas social networking section.

Here's an idea for your next project, build a search engine called Guugle.com and rant about legal action against that other "copy cat" corporation.
