Gambling Movies : Mustang Ranch Biopic Filming In Reno, 21, The Grand

Love Ranch, a new film chronicling Mustang Ranch owners Joe and Sally Conforte which stars Joe 'You MuthaFukaYou" Pesci and Helen Mirren is filming in downtown Reno this week.

Love Ranch takes place in late 1970s and tons of locals have donated their late model wheels to be in the movie. Apparently the facades of the casinos didn't need to be re-done to match 1970's styling - no shit right? The marquee on Fitzgeralds, right next to the Reno Arch changed its promo advertisement to a "$3.95 Prime Rib Dinner (replacing a 4 with a three?)

Anyways, its great to see downtown Reno play a part in a movie, particularly one starring everybodys favorite gangster, Joe Pesci. Helen Mirren is definitely a creative casting choice. Could be interesting.

In other movie news, two gamblin' flicks open this week across the nation. You've probably heard about 21, which is all about the MIT blackjack team and based on Ben Mezrich's book Bringing Down the House: The Inside Story of Six M.I.T. Students Who Took Vegas for Millions

Another flick opening this weekend is The Grand, a send up of the World Series of Poker starring Woody Harrelson, Ray Romano and tons of poker pros.
