Ringo Starr, Legend, Banished to Whiskey Petes
Ringo Starr, who certainly needs no introduction, apparently does need one - to a promoter who can do better than booking him at Whiskey Petes in Primm.
Unlike the only other living Beatle, Paul McCartney - who sells out annual appearances at the monolithic MGM Grand Garden Arena, Mr. Starkey has apparently been banished to perform in the Star of the Desert Arena in Primm, Nevada on the Nevada/California state line.
Apparently other presumably popular artists are making their Vegas appearances in Primm including country music legend George Jones, pre-Manilow Las Vegas Hilton headliner Reba McEntire and Yacht-rockers/former Doobies Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonald. One has to wonder whether or not McDonald's Doobie Brother smash 'Takin It To The Streets' foreshadowed a 40 minute drive down I-15 from Vegas to Primm to see him play at the supremely lousy Whiskey Petes.
Anyways, it's sad to see Ringo playing in Primm. I wonder if next years tour will be titled "Liverpool To Laughlin 09". He did play at Mandalay Bay beach last summer.

Some other ones to think about:
Willie Nelson is playing at Harrah's Cherokee Casino on March 21.
The Black Crowes are playing Harrah's Laughlin on April 24 (And Harrah's Lake Tahoe on the 25th).
Joan Jett is playing Harrah's Laughlin on April 25.
Tony Orlando is playing Harrah's Chester on April 26.
With the economy going into the toilet quickly, these 'older' stars should be happy to get a paying gig anywhere they can. If they didn't save up enough money from when they were in their prime, and still have to work, then what's wrong with them working the B & C list venues. Again they should be glad they are working and earning whatever they can., because going to concerts is one of the first things people cut when they need to cut expenses.
