Venetian Owner Wins Another Libel Lawsuit
Another day another lawsuit. Las Vegas Sands chairman and multi-bajillionaire Sheldon Adelson - whose company owns the Venetian, Palazzo, soon to open Sands BethWorks slot parlor in Pennsylvania and a large chunk of the Cotai Strip in Macau - has won another libel lawsuit, this time against the UK Daily Mail, stemming from an erroneous report that Adelson was involved in a takeover of the Manchester United Football Club.
The Daily Mail decided to not defend themselves from Adelson's libel suit, opting to pay GBP4M settlement.
When it comes to journalists writing about his personal dealings, Mr. Adelson - whom Steve Wynn hilariously referred to as a 'Mr. Magoo figure' - lets the dogs out any time he gets the opportunity.
Some of you may recall Adelson's boneheaded lawsuit against John L. Smith, an overview of which you can find here.
