In search of a bit of backstory behind 21, the film based on Ben Mezrich's fabulous book about the MIT Blackjack team Bringing Down The House, the LA Times took our buddy Hollywood Dave Stann out to lunch at a grub spot a coupla blocks from here.

Topics of discussion include non-strategic aspects of card counting, unless you count how to get away with it strategic. Even more time is devoted to counter measures employed by casino surveillance and security teams, facial recognition, continuous shuffle and tracking unusual betting patterns (which they don't mention is done via RFID embedded into cards and chips.)

Experienced card counters *cough* know all of this stuff, so there's nothing earth shattering, but folks with an interest should definitely follow the link to the article. For more on Hollywood Dave, check out our interview with him from a few years ago.
