Las Vegas Metro Police and the Department of Homeland Security have been called to the Extended-Stay America hotel located at Valley View and West Flamingo Road after four employees were exposed to highly poisonous substance Ricin. Ricin, made from processing castor beans, is 6,000 times more poisonous than cyanide.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, symptoms of ricin exposure are difficulty breathing, cough, nausea, tightness of the chest followed by heavy sweating and gaining fluid in the lungs. Death from ricin poisoning usually occurs within 36 to 72 hours of exposure, if the victim survives 3-5 days, they usually recover. There is no antidote to ricin poisoning.

Steve Friess has a piece in the New York TImes which fills in on more of the details.
