Scaramouche, Scaramouche Can You Do The Fandango (Again?)

Legendary Queen guitarist Brian May has revealed in an interview with German mag OSTERREICH that We Will Rock You, the rock musical based on the music of Queen that was installed at Paris Las Vegas will be adding a sequel.

Take it away Brian May:

The first script of 'We Will Rock You' 2 is already finished, where the love story of Galileo and Scaramouche is to be continued. That is becoming a huge challenge, because repeating that success is almost impossible. But it's exactly for that reason that it's also so appealing! Even if musicals are basically a daft genre, I find them fascinating. They may well be sillier than rock music, but more human for all that, and I like that.

There is no timetable when the proposed We Will Rock You 2 will premiere, or whether it will be installed in any Vegas showrooms (doubtful).

Additionally, there is no word yet on what the sequel will be called. Of course, we have some suggestions, including: We Will (Still) Rock You, or We Have Rocked You, With You, We Are Rocking, Together Again or the less oblique Having Rocked You Previously, We Wish To Rock You More, Differently, At A Price Point Raised for Inflation.

The original is still playing right now in Toronto, ON. From the opinions I've heard, it's more warmly received there but you have to accept that you're there to hear professional singers go through a greatest hits list of Queen songs, not for the terrible plot thread that ties the numbers together.

Speaking of which, for a city that's allegedly the third major theatre market after NYC and London, all sorts of unwanted Vegas trash is washing up on the entertainment district of Toronto right now. I even saw Matt Dusk (from "The Casino") in the entertainment listings. Poor Canucks.
