Sahara Launches Interactive History Thingy
In The SaharaLV.com website has added a neato interactive timeline covering its "50 Years of Fun" (55 and change to be exact, the Sahara opened in October 1952.)
It's a thoroughly interesting, and quite dense trip through the Sahara's long history. The timeline features decade overviews as well as pages that list special events, additions and other notable news for notable years. It is a rare occurrence when casinos embrace their history, but new owners sbe Entertainment have pledged that they are committed to preserving and enhancing the Sahara's legacy as they transform the resort's offerings over the next few years. If this is any indication of what they've got in store, we're stoked.
Some interesting tid bits:
The original 1952 phone number of the Sahara was "6800"
After a 1966 fire at the Sahara, the hotel gave away torched menus to guests as souvenirs.
In 1972, the price of the Sunday buffet was $2.25
In 1982, the price of dinner and champagne brunch buffet was $3.99
If you're looking to get lost in the vortex of Sahara's fascinating past, definitely check out the Sahara Timeline
