Trippies Winners Speak and Other Reactions Around The Web

As the news of the Trippies 2007 Awards is filtering through the Vegas webosphere, a number of the winners have delivered a few acceptance posts - or in the case of Five Hundy, a tearful speech that would make Sally Field blush.

First up, editors choice for Vegas Person of the Year, Steve Friess, who asked in the title "Do The VegasTripping Folks Smoke Crack?" That's a great question, one which we would not like to spoil with an answer. Read what The 'Other' Steve has to say about his Trippies win right here

Next, the fine feathered freaks of Five Hundy did a rather large analysis of the Trippies on their latest podcast, Episode 148: Three Years of Vegasy Goodness. Which includes the previously mentioned speech by Mr. Dressen. We'll bet nearly every listener choked up a little during the pregnant pause after Tim expressed his undying love and thanks to Mrs. Dressen for being a fabulous co-host - on the show and in life. Odds are 6:5 that Tim got some Sunday afternoon. :)

Mark Adams, webmeister of readers choice for Best Vegas Website : VegasTodayandTomorrow.com posted a typically quick "update" which we doubt truly expressed his joy being the big weiner. He's a man of few typed words.

Editors choice for Best Forum - WhatBrianThinks.com - has two congratulatory threads going... here and here with Brian eloquently thanking the members of the forum for making it what it is.

Readers choice for Best Forum Las Vegas Advisor have posted a little news thingy congratulating the members and Steve Friess for winning the Vegas Person of the Year award. Las Vegas Advisor's publishing company 'Huntington Press' publishes Steve's excellent book. On a side note, the editors of VegasTripping would like to personally congratulate The Las Vegas Advisor's head cheese Anthony Curtis for Twenty Five Years of Las Vegas Advisor. He's been throwing down tips for the greater good of the Vegas tourist community since 1983. Building, maintaining, growing and operating a self built business is a HUGE amount of work. That LVA has become THE destination for Vegas tourism community and information is a testimony to Mr. Curtis' hard work, dedication and enthusiasm. Congratulations Anthony and the rest of the LVA team. (See... we're not complete jerks... just sometimes!).

Readers choice for Best Blog: LeavingLV.net have posted a short thank you message to readers for putting them over the top with their numerous votes. Check it out here.

Hunter Hillegas, the main brain and technowizard behind Editors Choice for Best Website - RateVegas for iPhone (see Chuck's demonstration video above, or fire up RateVegas.com/iphone in your iPhone if you've got one) has posted some other information about other mobile devices with which you can access the same information. If you've got a Palm or Blackberry or Sidekick, fire up http://cell.ratevegas.com to get access to all of their great information when you're on the ground in Vegas.

Last but not least, the editors of VegasTripping want to congratulate all of the sites, blogs, podcasts and forums who were nominated. We are all aware that there is a mammoth ocean of Vegas related information that exists out on the internet, but 99% of it is essentially useless, outdated or just plain bad. By being nominated, your websites, blogs, podcasts and forums (and all of its members) have been recognized by the greater VegasTripping community as having the real deal stuff. While this year may have not been your year in terms of getting the most votes, we consider every nominee a winner and are eagerly looking forward to how your projects grow and change this year.

The nomination process for the 2008 Trippies will begin (again) in September, with final voting to commence on election day in November and the winners to be announced in January 2009... just about the time that the U.S. gets a new President.

Thank you all for making the 2007 Trippies a smashing success, and we look forward to see who's going to take the cake in 2008.
